Muhammadiyah University of Surabaya has more than 60 leadership development units and student organizations. Starting from study programs, faculties, to universities. This includes the Student Activity Unit (UKM). There are 5 groupings of SMEs in UMSurabaya, namely the Special Field consisting of 6 organizations, the Arts Field 8 organizations, the Sports Field consisting of 13 organizations, the Self-Defense Field 9 organizations, and the Spiritual Field consisting of 5 organizations.
Otonom Organization (Ortom)
Muhammadiyah Otonom Organization (Ortom) is an organization or body formed by Persyarikatan Muhammadiyah which, with guidance and supervision, is given the rights and obligations to manage their own household, foster certain members of the Muhammadiyah Association and in certain fields as well in order to achieve the aims and objectives of Muhammadiyah .

Student Organizations (ORMAWA)
Student organizations (ORMAWA) at UMSurabaya include University and Faculty level Student Executive Boards, University and Faculty level Student Representative Councils, and Study Program Student Associations (HMPS). This organization is a means of self-development for students towards broadening horizons, increasing intellectuality and personal integrity in addressing campus, community and nation issues.
